Buffalo during 1975 Stanley Cup playoffs. ... Tied NHL record for shorthanded
goals by a defenseman in one season with four in 1980-81. ... Played in first
273 consecutive regular-season games in Edmonton NHL history. His streak ended
on Dec. 19, 1982. ... Missed part of 1982-83 season when he was hospitalized
in December 1982 for a severe case of intestinal influenza. ... Gave up his Edmonton
captaincy to Wayne Gretzky on eve of the 1983-84 season, saying he felt the
move might help the team win the Stanley Cup. ... Paired with Kevin Lowe on
defense for Edmonton in 1983-84. ... Made his first All-Star Game appearance
in 1986 when Edmonton coach Glen Sather added him to the Campbell Conference

| EXPANSION: Buffalo left Fogolin unprotected
for the 1979 NHL Expansion Draft, and he was claimed by Edmonton on June 13,
1979. Buffalo got Fogolin back eight years later when Edmonton traded him with
Mark Napier and 1987 fourth-round pick (John Bradley) to the Sabres in
exchange for Normand Lacombe, Wayne Van Dorp and 1987 fourth-round pick (Peter
Ericksson) on March 6, 1987. |
