Missed remainder of 1984-85 season with detached retina, an injury suffered when he was hit in the eye with a puck that had rebounded off the glass while playing for Sudbury in November 1984. ... Missed part of 1986-87 season with separated shoulder, an injury suffered during Saginaw's Dec. 19, 1986, game vs. Indianapolis. ... Returned to Sudbury and went into the Greater Sudbury police force after his retirement. ... Convicted of assault in September 2004, for a May 10, 2003, incident in which he picked up his girlfriend and tried to force her into his car as she was attempting to walk away from him on the way home from a bar. Greenough had argued that he was looking out the for the woman's safety by trying protect her from encountering some members of a biker gang. In February 2005, he was sentenced to one year's probation by Justice John Keast. He was also ordered to take a course on partner assault.
