shoulder, an injury suffered during his NHL debut in New Jersey's Jan. 6,
1987, game at Philadelphia. He did not return to action until New Jersey's
Jan. 18, 1987, game vs. Washington. ... Missed start of 1987-88 season with
broken fifth knuckle on right hand, an injury suffered in fight with Tom
Martin during New Jersey's Sept. 24, 1987, preseason game vs. Hartford. He
did not make his 1987-88 season debut until New Jersey's Nov. 3, 1987, game
at N.Y. Islanders. ... Missed part of 1987-88 season with fractured orbital
bone above left eye, suffered in November 1987. ... Retired from
NHL for first time on Sept. 12, 1988, when he walked out of New Jersey
training camp, saying hockey wasn't fun anymore, and he wanted to return to
his farm in Alberta. ... Came out of retirement to attend
