Miscellaneous: Scored goal in his first NHL game. The goal beat Minnesota goaltender Gilles Meloche at 18:38 of the second period in a 4-3 North Stars victory. ... Played on line with Bob Bassen and Brad Lauer for N.Y. Islanders in 1986-87. ... Led N.Y. Islanders with plus-30 rating in 1987-88. ... Suffered 40-stitch gash above his right eye when he was accidentally cut by Pat Verbeek's skate during Game 6 of N.Y. Islanders' first-round series at New Jersey on April 14, 1988 -- the Islanders' final 1988 playoff game. The cut severed Kerr's frontal nerve, requiring microsurgery to repair the damage. ... Finished 12th in voting for 1987-88 Selke Trophy. ... Suspended by NHL for one game during 1988-89 season (automatic suspension) for exceeding the limit on stick violations. ...  Missed part of 1988-89 season with sprained left knee, an injury suffered during N.Y.
