Was captain of first Canadian team to win a gold medal at World Junior Championships in 1982. ... Did not play his first minor-league game until he was sent down to Indianapolis (IHL) during 1993-94 season. ... Returned to Chicago after retirement in 1997 and worked as a trader on the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange in addition to part-time work as a hockey announcer. His nickname on the trading floor is "Cup." ... A rink in St. Albert, Alberta, was named Troy Murray Arena in his honor.

HOW HE GOT AWAY
TRADE (2): Chicago traded Murray and Warren Rychel to Winnipeg in exchange for Bryan Marchment and Chris Norton on July 22, 1991. Less than two years later, Chicago got Murray back from Winnipeg for Steve Bancroft and future considerations (unspecified 1993 draft pick) on February 21, 1993. One year later, Chicago lost Murray again when it traded him with 1994 11th-round pick (Antti Tormanen) to Ottawa in exchange for 1994 11th-round pick (Rob Mara) on March 11, 1994.
