AWARDS AND HONORS
Miscellaneous: Missed start of 1983-84 season with dislocated shoulder, an
injury suffered during Chicago's 1983 training camp. ... Played left wing for
Chicago for part of 1983-84 season. ... Paired on defense with Jack O'Callahan
for Chicago in 1983-84.
Feamster's Back Woes: Missed remainder of 1984-85 season with stress
fracture in fifth lumbar vetebra, an injury that ended his career. Doctors at
the Mayo Clinic diagnosed the problem in December 1984. Feamster had been
demoted by Chicago to the Black Hawks' IHL affiliate in Milwaukee on Nov. 29,
1984, but refused to report because of his injury. Chicago team doctors said
Feamster was healthy, and the team threatened to suspend him, but Feamster went to the Mayo Clinic for a second opinion. Feamster's actions angered Chicago general manager Bob Pulford, who said the
team never would have let him play with a fracture in his back. Instead,
Pulford said Feamster suffered from a hereditary back problem. The
Feamster-Pulford dispute became moot when Chicago bought out the remainder of
his contract and let him finish the season as an assistant coach in the IHL. |

1980-81 season with knee injury suffered in December 1980. ... Moved to
Pueblo, Colo., after his retirement and opened five Little Caesar's Pizza
franchises in the Southern Colorado area. His life as a successful Little
Caesar's franchisee is chronicled in the book Fast Food Nation.
