(WHA) in June 1978, and did not enter NHL until June 9, 1979, when Washington
took him back from Winnipeg in the 1979 NHL Reclaim Draft. Under the rules of
the reclaim draft, the Capitals were obligated to keep MacKinnon in the NHL
for at least two full seasons before demoting him to the minors. ... Played on
Detroit Red Wings Alumni team after his retirement, even though he never
played in Detroit organization.
