His rights reverted to Minnesota after no team claimed him in the 1978 Cleveland-Minnesota Dispersal Draft on June 15, 1978. Minnesota left Baby unprotected for the 1979 NHL Expansion Draft. He was claimed by Quebec on June 13, 1979, but never played for parent team.
