WHA/EXPANSION: Thomas signed to play in the
WHA rather than enter the NHL after he was drafted, and remained in the other
league until it merged with the NHL in 1979. His rights reverted back to
Chicago, which left him unprotected for the 1979 NHL Expansion Draft, and he
was claimed by Edmonton on June 13, 1979. |
