Daily 2018 Draft Prospect Updates

Dec. 21, 2017

PROSPECT-UPDATE ARCHIVE

It was a rather uneventful Thursday in draft-prospect land. Only a handful of games took place, and only two players can be listed here for top performances. In addition, there is no video from Thursday. Oh, well.

Look for much more activity Friday, when there are multiple World Junior exhibition games, including Canada vs. Finland and USA vs. Sweden. The next list should be longer than this one, but until then, have a look at Thursday's slimmed-down version:

Stars of the Night

ADAM LISKA -- Liska has been coming on strong of late for the Kitchener Rangers, and his OHL success could very well carry over to Slovakia's World Junior team. On Thursday, Liska picked up two assists in the Slovaks' 4-1 win over Belarus at Jamestown, N.Y. His first assist was the primary helper on the game's opening goal at 4:26 of the second period. He then assisted on the eventual game-winner 12 minutes into the period for a 2-0 lead. The Slovaks should be very competitive at the World Junior tournament, as Liska gets the big stage for raising his draft stock. (Note: Fourth appearance on this list in 2017-18)

JACK PERBIX -- It's time for Notre Dame hockey fans to get excited. You've got a great Minnesota player in the pipeline. Perbix continued his domination of the schoolboy ranks on Thursday with two goals and two assists in Elk River's dramatic 6-5 win over Anoka. He scored the game's first goal just 44 seconds after the puck dropped, and struck again at 10:12 of the first period for a 3-0 lead. As the game tightened in the third period, Perbix picked up the lone assist on a goal at 4:01 to put Elk River up 4-3. He closed his night with the primary assist on the game-winner for a 6-4 lead at 14:22. Perbix now has seven goals and 22 points in only nine games. That includes four games with at least three points. (Note: Second appearance on this list in 2017-18)
