HOW HE GOT AWAY
FREE AGENCY: Toronto never signed Tomlak, who became an unrestricted free agent after the 1984-85 season. Rather than re-enter draft, he enrolled at the University of Western Ontario. After his final season at Western Ontario, he signed with Hartford on May 28, 1989.
