Rangers got Dore back when they claimed him from Quebec in the NHL Waiver Draft on October 9, 1984. One year later, in October 1985, N.Y. Rangers lost Dore again when the team assigned Dore and Pierre Larouche to Philadelphia's AHL affiliate in Hershey as compensation for signing head coach Ted Sator, who had been an assistant with the Flyers.
