transaction that sent Jack Carlson, Steve Carlson, Dave Keon, Dave Dryden and
John McKenzie to New England in exchange for Danny Arndt and cash in January
1977. Debol's rights, the future considerations part of the deal, were sent to
Edmonton in June 1977. ... WHA rights traded by Edmonton with 1978 first- and
second-round draft picks (later voided) and roughly $300,000 in cash to
Cincinnati in exchange for Dennis Sobchuk in December 1977. ... Turned pro after using up his NCAA eligibility
in March 1978 and finished
1977-78 season with Cincinnati (WHA). ... Missed end of 1978-79 season with
eye injury caused by Morris Lukowich's errant stick during Cincinnati's Feb.
9, 1979 game vs. Winnipeg. He needed two surgeries to fix a double-vision
problem resulting from the injury. ... Was on Cincinnati (WHA) team that
folded after 1978-79 season when WHA merged with NHL. Claimed by Hartford from
Cincinnati in WHA Dispersal Draft in June 1979. ... Was on Cincinnati (CHL) team that
folded on Dec. 17, 1980. ... Returned to Detroit area after his retirement and

| HOW HE GOT AWAY |
| WHA/EXPANSION: Debol never signed with
Chicago, instead jumping to the WHA after college. He did not enter the NHL
until the WHA and NHL merger in 1979. Chicago chose not to take him back in
the NHL Reclaim Draft, and his NHL rights remained with Hartford, his last WHA
team, in June 1979. He signed with Hartford in August 1979. |
