Was one of Wayne Gretzky's first pro teammates at Indianapolis (WHA) in 1978. ... Traded by Indianapolis (WHA) with Gretzky and Ed Mio to Edmonton for $700,000 and future considerations on Nov. 2, 1978. ... Returned to Indianapolis after his retirement and became manager of a fitness club while coaching local youth hockey teams in Carmel, Ind.
Personal: Nicknamed "Grenade." ... Also known as Pete Driscoll during his playing days.
HOW HE GOT AWAY
WHA/EXPANSION: Driscoll never signed with Toronto and went straight to the WHA. When the NHL and WHA merged in 1979, Toronto chose not to take Driscoll in the NHL Reclaim Draft, and his NHL rights remained with Edmonton, his last WHA team.
