Missed part of 1977-78 season after having elbow surgery. ... Played on Philadelphia team that set NHL record with 35-game unbeaten streak from Oct. 14, 1979, to Jan. 6, 1980. ... Missed most of 1980-81 season chronic back pain. Attempted to cure problem with hypnosis and electricity jolts to numb nerves, but was ultimately forced to have season-ending spinal-fusion surgery on Jan. 30, 1981. ... Voted by Philadelphia fans as first-team defenseman on Flyers' all-1970s team. ... Retired following training camp in 1982 because he was suffering from back pain related to his 1981 surgery and because he was not projected to make the opening-day roster for 1982-83.
