Personal: Full-blooded Ojibwa (Chippewa) Indian and member of the Aamjiwnaang First Nation, who grew up on a reserve just south of Sarnia, Ontario. He made draft history as first full-blooded Ontario First Nations player ever selected by an NHL team.
